Yesterday's Clean Up went very well, thanks to all of the volunteers! High schoolers were walking from the grandstands to the launch dock picking up trash and recycling. Doing a little can help a lot. Around 15 bags were filled with trash and bottles found around the Occoquan. The weather was wonderful, and so were our volunteers. Thanks for keeping our mission strong!
Join us at the Darrell Winslow Regatta at Sandy Run, Occoquan for our annual clean up and awareness event. Or plan your own clean up and create signage for the One Bottle/One Rower effort.
Our clean up coincides with the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Watershed Clean Up. Email us, firstname.lastname@example.org, to help on April 14 or if you'll be planning your own clean up! Send pics!
Envirow had a booth at the Midatlantic Erg Sprints. We had many visitors and had everyone guess how many bottles of one-time use water bottles could fit into a certain sized trash bin, the best guesser wins an Envirow t-shirt! We also shared information about DC Surfrider, they hold many great clean-ups in the DC area which include fun activities for all ages, like dragon-boating! Check out their website by clicking on this link -> DCSurfrider
Join us at the DC Surfrider's Cold Water Paddle and SW Waterfront Cleanup this Saturday (Dec 3) at the Gangplank Marina! It's going to be more than a cleanup, with dragon boat demos, holiday cookie exchange and a canned food drive for Capital Area Food Bank. It's a wonderful way to burn of those Thanksgiving pounds :) Take care of the water before it freezes!

Volunteer or organize a Watershed Clean Up: We are working with the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac Watershed Clean Up on April 9. We will do a clean up after the Darrell Winslow Regatta at Sandy Run on the Occoquan.
If your Crew Team will not be at the Occoquan Regatta April 9, plan your own or clean up anytime this season after a regatta or at a watershed location near you.
Please help spread the word!
Two Envirow leaders Amanda Murphy and Megan Kirby held their own cleanup to better their community. They set a great example of leaders and teens who are willing to make a change. Here are some photos of the girls in action!
We have developed a Top Ten list for rowers to protect the rivers.

Just because we are not having events doesn't mean you can't help clean-up somewhere! Check out our Link page for websites that are holding clean-up events throughout the summer.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Occoquan to help cleanup! It was a great day, starting out by informing rowers at their food tents and tying up signs about cleaning up around the area. After the Darrell Winslow Regatta volunteers went around picking up trash and sorting it into recycling, and trash bags. Thanks to Alice Ferguson Foundation who gave us bags and gloves for our volunteers. It was surprising what some people found by the river. Check out a few of our photos from that day under Photos.
Over all it was a very sucessful day of cleaning and spreading Envirow's message.
Thank you Sandy Run Regional Park Staff for letting us clean and supporting Envirow!
Thanks Again! We hope that we have set a high bar for our following cleanups!
Did you know most of the trash you see in the river comes from litter on the ground? It ends up in the water by way of wind and storm water going into drains and then into the river.
Did you know the Potomac River flows into the Chesapeake Bay and then into the Atlantic Ocean? It's all connected!
Alice Ferguson Foundation- This Foundation concentrates on litter in the Potomac.
EPA Training Opportunities- Receive in-depth training on various watershed issues.
Anacostia Watershed Society- Dedicated to cleaning the Anacostia River and its tributaries.
